Yes, We Get the Point
I have two lovely daughters, ages 9 and 6. They were actually born on the same day, but in many ways couldn't be more different. The 9-year old is very outgoing and friendly, while the 6-year old is more distant--a cool customer--and a tough little girl.
We were sitting at a restaurant the other night celebrating their birthday and were discussing their respective personalities. The 6-year old matter-of-factly announced that she was "like a pine cone." When we stopped laughing to ask why, she responded "because she was tough, and doesn't break when she falls." We could not have picked a noun that better suited her ourselves, and still don't know where she came up with it.
