Baby's Story

Welcoming Your Newborn Baby!

Alright, so during forty weeks you and your baby have been sharing the same body, and if you are like most women, you will have made sure to keep as healthy as possible during this time to help your baby and will have prepared to give birth in the best and most appropriate way possible. Now, all of a sudden your baby is in the world and you will be able to gaze upon him or her for the first time. You might even be a little surprised about what your baby looks like since newborns tend to have a strange look at first. However, rest assured that if your baby is born with a conic head, red spots on his or her face and has all that sticky substance all over his or her body, that it will disappear.

Seeing Your Baby for the First Time
Immediately after you have given birth to your baby, the doctor will m

ost likely place the baby over your abdomen or will give the baby to the nurse so that the nurse can clean the baby off and dry him or her before placing the baby in your arms.

Most likely you will feel overwhelmed with feelings of love and affection. The strong impact of the whole process might have left you a little stirred up as well. And if you are like most people you will probably think that your baby is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen. Or maybe not. Remember that reality is not always like the things we were told about in fairy tales or in certain movies where babies are born perfectly clean, with cute wide-open eyes and smell like bouquets of roses. Your baby in fact, will most likely be born full of blood, amniotic liquid and a white sticky substance called vernix. The baby’s skin will also probably have red spots on it and he or she might have some contusions on the skin due to the birth. Therefore make sure to keep an open mind when you look at your baby for the first time. These days there are some canals on television that have reality doctor programs that specifically show what it is like when a baby is born and which show you the reality of the picture, so most likely you will know about this, however if you didn’t don’t be shocked by what you see.

There are many people that feel overwhelmed with the sight of their newborn baby and it is a very common feeling for a lot of people. Don’t be surprised either if it takes a few days to establish a real connection with your new baby. You may feel a little distant from your baby at first but not to worry, as things start to normalize and you start to know your baby, these feelings will change. You will also start to discover new things about your baby, which will make things all the more interesting such as the unusually long fingers and feet he or she has. You will also start to notice your baby’s behavior and reaction to certain things such as to loud noises or to soft music etc.
